Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest’s troops inflicted heavy damage to federal vessels and troops at Eastport, Mississippi on the Tennessee River.

1845 - The US Naval School later named the US Naval Academy, opened in Annapolis, Maryland

1971 – Ater being sold, dismantled and moved to the United States, the London Bridge reopened in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
