The newly annexed state of Texas ratified it’s first state constitution.

1864 – Confederate General John B. Hood’s forces seized the Western & Atlantic Railroad above Resaca, Georgia.
1885 – The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) was founded in Atlanta, United States.
1951 – A football with a rubber covering was used for the first time when Georgia Tech beat Louisiana State 25-7 in Atlanta.
1995 – Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida admitted its 500-millionth guest.
