1934 - US President Franklin D. Roosevelt signs National Firearms Act into law, requiring registration and imposition of excise tax on firearms including machine guns. short-barreled shotguns and rifles, and silencers
1953 - KCTV (now KLST) TV channel 8 in San Angelo, TX began broadcasting
1963 – U.S. President John F. Kennedy visited West Berlin, where he made his famous declaration at the Brandenburg Gate: “Ich bin ein Berliner.” He meantto say “I am a Berliner” in German.
1962 - WSEC (now WLRN) TV channel 17 in Miami, FL began broadcasting
1996 – The U.S. Supreme Court ordered the Virginia Military Institute to admit women or forgo state support.
2003 – The U.S. Supreme Court reversed an earlier decision and stated in its Lawrence v. Texas decision that gender-based sodomy laws were unconstitutional.
2008 - The U.S. Supreme Court rules in DC v. Heller that the ban on handguns in the District of Columbia is unconstitutional.
2015 - US Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that '“same-sex” marriage must be legal across all US states
