The Natchez Seek Allies – Today In Southern History

On this date in 1729…
The Natchez tribe sent two delegates to visit the Tunica, requesting that they join them in their fourth war against the French. The Tunica refused to participate and escaped the ultimate decimation of the Natchez.

1955 – “Sugar” Ray Robinson of Ailey, Georgia knocked out Carl Olson to regain his world middleweight boxing title.
